How true a statement, we are awakened to the Word of God most when our lives are rocked and we come running. Having been raised in the church I can quote verse upon verse, but those that truly stick with me, that I have the deepest understanding of, are the verses I rediscovered when the rug was pulled out from under me. In those times, in my solitude (hey, I'm a pretty keep-the-baggage-to-yourself person), the Holy Spirit opened my eyes, my ears, my heart to a true understanding of God. Even now there are times when I'll be purusing my Bible (sometimes mindlessly *sigh*) and I'll come across a verse or a passage that has been written on my heart through the reality of being human and living in a sinful world...and I'll stop and dwell on the richness of Him, acknowledging He is all He claims to be. His character is that of a strong father, a tender friend, a jealous lover, and above all, my Redeemer.
